About Yellowstone Basin Inn
The Yellowstone Basin Inn in Gardiner, Montana was built in 1994, with the finishing touches completed in 2001. Greg and Sabina Strauss bought the Inn in 2004, and after years of managing other lodging facilities around the country, this new venture was a dream come true. They are continually adding upgrades to make your stay more enjoyable.
Yellowstone Basin Inn is an exceptional Montana lodging located at the edge of Yellowstone National Park. We aspire for our guests to enjoy great service, the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem’s nature, and local and sustainable foods. We aim to share our love and knowledge of Yellowstone with our guests and employees to create remarkable Montana & Yellowstone experiences.
At Yellowstone Basin Inn, we value Yellowstone’s fragile ecosystem and feel very strongly about our need to tread lightly and add value to the local community. Therefore, we make every effort to sort and recycle our trash. We provide recycling bins in every room. We also have a larger recycling station in our common area. We donate our surplus food to neighbors in our community as well as to the local food pantry. We endeavor to use as many natural cleaning products as possible and to buy local, sustainable, and/or organic products for our kitchen when available.
“When we buy local, sustainable and organic, we pay more, but we buy clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat, open space, no hormones, human handling of animals, and no GMO." Annie, Western Sustainability Exchange
We also recycle our bath soaps and amenities. We joined with Clean the World, a non-profit which saves the lives of children by preventing diseases. They sanitize our used soaps, reshape them and where ever there is a need distribute them along with our left over shampoos, conditioners and lotions: Clean The World Impact Statement – Yellowstone Basin Inn YTD 2014.
Most of our rooms have bamboo towels. They are naturally soft and luxurious, with cotton, to provide the most absorbent, breathable towel made. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, and more absorbent than cotton, drying in less time and reducing energy costs.
We are very excited that all of our rooms have new locally handcrafted furniture from Montana Woodworks, located in the far northwestern corner of Montana. This environmentally friendly company uses dead, standing trees harvested without heavy equipment.
Thank you for staying with us, and supporting our mission and philosophy.
